Read beyond the first photograph
Check the full description, condition notes, included accessories and available photos. Compare model numbers and dimensions when they matter to your decision. Missing details are still unknown, even when the overall presentation looks polished.
Be cautious when a price, description and photograph do not seem to describe the same item. A manufacturer's stock image does not show the condition of the particular object being sold.
Use the official purchase route
Unexpected messages may ask you to follow a payment link, send a separate deposit or share a verification code. Open the service directly through its known address and check the order there instead of relying on a link in a message.
The FTC's online shopping guidance advises buyers to examine the full cost, review policies and keep purchase records. It also warns about sellers who insist on payment methods that make recovering money difficult, including gift cards and wire transfers.
Understand what protection means
Read the actual payment and support terms rather than assuming that words such as secure or protected promise a particular refund outcome. Different services handle authorization, charging, returns and complaints differently.
